Today, as the process industry develops towards large-scale and continuous production, the increasing scale of production makes the production process more complex. The current development situation urgently needs to change the way enterprises operate, improve information processing efficiency, and enhance system control capabilities to achieve safe and efficient production. The commonly used factory control systems in digital factories are DCS, SIS and MIS. What are the differences and connections between them? The editor will introduce them to you.
1.DCS
Distributed control system (Distributed Control System) is a centralized and distributed control system based on microprocessors. Since the advent of the first distributed control system in the mid-1970s, distributed control systems have been widely used in the field of industrial control. The main feature of a distributed control system is to achieve centralized management and decentralized control through real-time monitoring.
2.SIS
The factory-level monitoring information system (Supervisory Information System) is a factory-level automation information system that integrates real-time process monitoring, optimization control and production process management. The goal of SIS is to achieve the sharing of real-time production information and management information through large-scale data collection and processing. On this basis, through calculation, analysis, statistics, optimization, and data mining, the production process monitoring of chemical plants, the analysis of process equipment performance and economic indicators, and operation guidance can be achieved. The main characteristics are reflected in system decision support.
3. MIS
Management Information System (MIS) is a system composed of people, computers, etc. that can collect, transmit, store, maintain and use information. It can measure various operating conditions of the enterprise, and use past historical data to predict the future. From the perspective of the overall situation of the enterprise, it can assist the enterprise in making decisions, use information to control the behavior of the enterprise, and help the enterprise achieve its planning goals. The definition given here emphasizes the function and nature of the management information system, and also emphasizes that the computer in the management information system is only a tool for enterprise management.
The DCS system focuses on real-time monitoring and precise control, with the purpose of safe and stable operation of equipment. SIS is based on DCS, and through real-time analysis of monitoring data, it can command and dispatch the production operation of the entire plant in real time, with the purpose of ensuring the operation quality and economy of the entire production system. MIS is a management information system, whose main tasks are information processing, task transfer and work coordination, etc. It provides the necessary information for the production and operation and administrative personnel of the whole factory, emphasizes the coordination of production, auxiliary and financial relations, and mainly completes equipment and maintenance management to production and operation management, financial management and office automation. Therefore, SIS system, MIS system and DCS system are three systems with different functions facing different levels and different goals, which are both interrelated and significantly different. These three systems should coexist and cannot replace each other, and some functions can be overlapped.
